Turning a hotel beach club into a destination that people would not only access, but choose
Originally conceived as a beach club for residents, Kyma evolved into a broader hospitality offer under new operational direction. Located on the Palm, the project included a beach club, restaurant, infinity pool and day-to-night programming, with a full scope covering master planning, interior design, kitchen design and branding.

The challenge
Stand out in an area where most venues offer the same core ingredients.
Beach clubs along this stretch compete on similar formats, making differentiation difficult without relying on scale or excess. At the same time, the project needed to function as part of a hotel ecosystem, with expectations around service, comfort and consistency. The risk was creating a space that either blended into its context or leaned too heavily into spectacle without sustaining regular use.

The APPROACH
Controlling first impressions and rework the core spatial elements that shape how people use the space.
The design focused on arrival, layout and orientation as the primary tools for differentiation. By rethinking how guests enter, move through and gather within the space, the project created a clearer identity without increasing complexity. This allowed the venue to support both casual daytime use and more structured evening activity within the same footprint.

HOW DID WE STRATEGIZE A PLACE THAT WORKS?
Seasonal Adaptability
The enclosed dining area allows the venue to operate effectively during peak summer conditions.
Day-to-Night Transition
The layout supports a shift in use and atmosphere without requiring spatial reconfiguration.
Market Differentiation
Arrival and pool orientation create a distinct experience within a highly standardised beachfront context.

THE RESULT
Kyma operates as both a hotel amenity and a standalone destination, without compromising either role.
We established a clear framework for how similar beachfront venues can compete through spatial decisions rather than scale alone.
